Automation and approvals
Workflows is an optional feature for running a monitored process from a business goal through recommendations, approval, execution, and an audit trail.
Availability
Workflows appears only when enabled for your workspace. Alerts and tasks can be used independently of this automation feature.
Understand the stages
- MonitorCheck for changes against the goal.
- InvestigateReview root-cause hints.
- RecommendRead the proposed action plan.
- ApproveRecord a decision when required.
- ExecuteTrack approved actions.
- AuditReview the recorded outcome.
The run screen names these stages Automated monitoring, Root-cause hints, Recommended actions, Approvals, Execution, and Audit trail.
Start an automation
- Open Workflows and the new-run screen, Run New Automation.
- Enter a Target that identifies what should be monitored. This is required.
- Enter an OKR objective and Automation goal that explain the desired result.
- Add relevant portfolio, account, instruments, or notes when your process uses them.
- Review Advanced settings with your administrator if needed.
- Select Start AI automation.
An OKR is an objective with measurable key results. The form's example objective is to increase gross margin from 28% to 32%; replace example values with values approved for your process.
Advanced settings include baseline and target, guardrails, lookback days, decision policy, and input indicators. Starting a run begins processing immediately. The trigger-type field does not by itself prove that a recurring schedule has been created.
Follow progress
Watch the live stage updates, then use Open details to review the run. A pending approval is a waiting state and may need a decision before processing can continue.
Root-cause hints are suggestions to review, not established facts.
Review an approval request
If a request is pending and you have approval access:
- Read the recommended action plan, expected impact, owner, and due date.
- Enter a Decision rationale.
- Select Approve, Reject, or Request changes as appropriate.
- Check the recorded decision and later execution status.
Approval records a decision; it does not itself prove that execution succeeded. Review Execution and Audit trail for the result.
If progress stops updating, refresh the run details and check its saved status before starting another run.
