Troubleshooting

Start by checking the active workspace. Then find the symptom below and follow its steps.

An option or report is missing

  1. Confirm the workspace at the top right.
  2. Clear list filters or search terms.
  3. Ask the workspace administrator to check the enabled feature, membership, and report access.
  4. For analytics, ask them to check both workspace and member Analytics switches, plus the relevant Report or AI Analyst capability.
  5. If needed, ask the report owner to verify your Microsoft account's Power BI permissions.

Different roles can legitimately see different menus. A saved link or pinned report does not bypass current access.

Access checks work togetherPassing one check does not replace the others.
  1. Workspace and member

Analytics is enabled for this AtroBI workspace and the active member.

  2. Feature and report

Your role, capability switches, report access, and approved metrics allow the action.

  3. Power BI and source data

Microsoft permissions and source security allow viewing, querying, or editing as needed.

Microsoft asks for administrator approval

This approval comes from your Microsoft organisation. Ask its Microsoft Entra administrator to review the selected app.

In Power BI setup, the Microsoft asks for administrator approval? section provides the relevant consent action. Being an AtroBI workspace administrator is not the same as being a Microsoft administrator.

The report opens, but Ask AtroBI does not work

Report viewing and AI queries have different requirements.

  1. Read the notice in the analyst panel.
  2. Ask the administrator to check workspace AI availability and your AI Analyst access.
  3. If it says metrics are needed, complete AI settings → AI setup.
  4. If it says the underlying data cannot be queried, ask the Power BI owner to review model permissions, including Build and query access.
  5. After a Microsoft permission change, reconnect Microsoft if the screen requests it.

Some source-security configurations are view-only. A visible report is not proof that AI query access is available.

Figures do not match what I expected

Compare metric definitions, units, dates, filters, Microsoft identity, and data refresh times. Expand Metrics, filters and evidence.

If page context is unavailable, name the required filter directly in your question. If a source refreshed between queries, rerun the analysis for a current comparison.

Do not interpret Unavailable, No matching rows, or unknown freshness as zero. See understand answers and evidence.

AtroBI asks me to clarify

Use the exact metric or field name from the report. Specify dates and the intended comparison. Start a New conversation if an older topic is making the question ambiguous.

A saved analysis is restricted

Your access to its source may have changed. Ask the administrator to check current report and metric permissions. A saved definition cannot preserve permissions that were revoked.

An alert cannot be created or activated

  • No analysis in the picker: save one metric with no grouping first.
  • Percentage-change condition missing: use a saved analysis that includes a comparison.
  • Rule will not activate: run Test alert and resolve any test, freshness, or access failure.
  • Rule stopped after editing: edits pause it; test again and then resume.
  • Date range looks old: an alert preserves the saved analysis's explicit dates.

See alerts.

A task or notification seems missing

Check My Tasks versus Team Tasks, clear filters, and confirm your workspace. For Notifications, turn off Unread only to include items already read.

If email is missing, check the in-app notification and any displayed email status. Ask the administrator to check workspace email settings and delivery configuration.

Live workflow progress stopped

Open or refresh the run details and inspect the saved run status. It may be waiting for approval. Check for an existing run before starting another one.

Get help with useful details

Send your workspace administrator:

  • Workspace name and report or task name.
  • What you selected and what you expected.
  • The visible message and approximate time.
  • The Query reference, if shown in the answer's evidence.
  • A screenshot of the relevant area, if your organisation permits it.

Do not include passwords, invitation tokens, or Microsoft credentials. Share only the business data appropriate for the person receiving your request.
